The lawn needs cutting, the beds are full of weeds and the hedge is hanging over the path. You want the garden tidied up, but it is hard to tell whether to ask for a mow, regular maintenance or a full garden clean-up.
A garden clean-up is a single job to get an overgrown yard back under control. Regular maintenance keeps a garden tidy through ongoing visits. You can book a clean-up on its own, with no obligation to sign up for regular work afterwards.
For homes in Adelaide’s inner north and our wider one-off service area, here is what that means in practice, including what happens to the green waste and how we work out the quote.
What is included in a garden clean-up?
The work depends on your garden and what we agree during the quote. A yard with long grass and buried edges needs different attention from one with overgrown hedges and weedy beds.
A clean-up can include:
- Mowing overgrown lawn and trimming the areas the mower cannot reach.
- Restoring edges along paths, driveways and garden borders.
- Weeding garden beds and edges.
- Trimming hedges and pruning shrubs as agreed.
- Clearing garden clippings and prunings.
- Blowing down paths and other hard surfaces to finish.
Tell us which parts of the garden matter most to you. It might be getting the backyard usable again, clearing the path to the clothesline or tidying the front before visitors arrive. We can look at those areas together and make the scope clear before you accept the quote.
You can also read about our garden clean-up service before getting in touch.
What happens to the waste?
We use your council green bin first. If there is more garden waste than it will hold, we take the excess away for disposal as green waste. That is included in your quote unless we agree otherwise.
That covers material from the garden, such as grass clippings, weeds, hedge trimmings and prunings. Household rubbish, old furniture and building materials are separate. We are a garden maintenance business, so those items need a rubbish removal service.
Tree lopping and tree removal are also outside our work. We handle hedging and pruning, but a tree that needs specialist attention is a job for a qualified arborist. Mention anything like that when we visit so we can explain what we can take care of.
How is a clean-up quoted?
We visit the property and give you a free, fixed-price quote. We do not quote from photos or over the phone, because seeing the garden gives us a clearer picture of the work involved.
The size of the yard is only part of it. Access, the amount of overgrowth, edging, garden beds and green waste all affect the job. A small yard with dense growth can need a different amount of work from a larger lawn that is already maintained.
During the visit, show us the areas you want included and anything we need to know about getting into the yard. You receive the quote before work starts. Once you accept the agreed job, the price does not increase simply because it takes longer than expected.
There is no need to decide for yourself whether your garden counts as a clean-up. Tell us what you would like done and we will work that out when we see it.
How does regular maintenance differ?
A regular visit starts with a garden we are keeping in shape. It includes mowing, edging, trimming, blowing down hard surfaces and a general tidy. Hedging, weeding and pruning are handled as needed on the same visit.
Our ongoing garden maintenance runs fortnightly or weekly. If your garden needs an initial clean-up, we can discuss the ongoing option as well, provided your suburb is in our regular maintenance area.
The service areas are different. One-off clean-ups cover a wider list of suburbs than ongoing maintenance. Being eligible for a clean-up does not automatically mean we can add your home to a regular round.
If you are happy looking after the garden yourself once it is tidied, a one-off job is fine. If you would like us to keep looking after it, let us know your suburb and we can confirm the options.
Getting your garden sorted
You do not need to apologise for an overgrown yard or tidy it before asking us to look. Explain what you want help with, whether it is the whole garden or a few areas that have become difficult to manage.
Request a free quote and tell us your suburb and what needs doing. We will arrange an on-site visit, confirm the work and give you a fixed price to consider.
