Your questions, answered
Getting started & quotes
How do I get started with Trusted Garden?
Send a quote request through the website form or give us a call. Adam will text you to arrange a time to visit, often the same day, then you'll get a fixed-price quote by email. Accept it online and we'll confirm a day to start, then maintain your garden on a regular weekly or fortnightly schedule.
Is there a charge to get a quote?
No. Quotes are free and fixed price. We visit on-site for an accurate quote, and once you accept there are no surprises with extra charges if the job takes longer than expected.
How quickly can I get a quote?
Fast. We offer same-day quoting, so in most cases we can come out and get you a fixed-price quote the same day you get in touch. Send a request through the website or give us a call, and we will arrange a time that suits, usually the same day.
Do you quote from photos or over the phone?
No. We quote in person after inspecting the property. It is the fairest way to price the job and gets the best result.
Do you do one-off jobs or clean-ups?
Yes. We take one-off clean-ups and overgrown-lawn rescues, starting from $199, fixed-price and quoted in person. Most clients then keep the result looking great by staying on a regular weekly or fortnightly visit, but there is no obligation.
What is included in a regular visit?
Every regular visit includes mowing, edging along paths and borders, trimming, blowing down hard surfaces, and a general tidy. Hedging, weeding and pruning are done on the same visit as needed, and clipping removal is available on request.
How soon can you start?
We get you a quote fast, often the same day, then book you in. For a one-off clean-up there is usually about a one-week wait. For regular weekly or fortnightly maintenance we can sometimes start the same week, depending on your suburb, because we group each area onto set days in our fortnightly schedule. Tell us your suburb and we will give you the soonest day we can do.
How will I know my booking is confirmed?
Once you accept your quote, you get a booking confirmation by email straight away. Before each visit on your regular schedule, an automated SMS reminder goes out the night before so you always know we are coming. No need to chase us or check your calendar.
Will it be the same person each time?
Yes. We are a small family run business, so it is Adam and the team who turn up, the same familiar faces, not a different subcontractor each visit. That is a big part of how we stay reliable and get to know your garden.
Pricing & payment
How do I pay?
You can pay by card, including contactless tap or Apple Pay and Google Pay straight onto Adam's phone on the spot, processed securely through ServiceM8, or by direct bank deposit. For regular weekly or fortnightly maintenance we can set up automatic recurring billing, so your card is charged automatically after each visit is completed. No invoices to chase.
Can I tap to pay on the day?
Yes. We can take a contactless tap payment on the spot straight from your card or phone, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, through ServiceM8. You can also pay by direct deposit, or set up automatic billing for a regular service.
Can I set up automatic payments for my regular service?
Yes. For ongoing weekly or fortnightly clients we can set up recurring automatic billing through ServiceM8. Your saved card is charged automatically once each visit is completed, so you never have to remember to pay. You still receive a tax invoice for every job.
Do you provide a tax invoice?
Yes. We email you an ATO-compliant PDF tax invoice for every job.
Do you have an ABN and are you registered for GST?
Yes. Our ABN is 45 891 461 625 and we are registered for GST.
What if the job takes longer than expected?
There is no extra charge. We quote a fixed price by the job, not by the hour, so the price you accept is the price you pay.
What does it cost?
Regular mowing and garden maintenance starts from $99 per visit, the same price whether you are on a weekly or fortnightly schedule. One-off clean-ups and overgrown-lawn rescues start from $199. Every job is fixed-price and quoted in person, so the price you accept is the price you pay, with no hourly charges and no surprises if the job takes longer than expected.
Is a regular service cheaper than one-off visits?
Yes. Ongoing weekly or fortnightly visits start from $99 each, the same price either way, while one-off clean-ups start from $199 because they take more time and effort. Staying on a regular visit is the cheaper way to keep your garden looking its best.
Is there a call-out fee or minimum charge?
No separate call-out fee. Regular visits start from $99 and every job is quoted at a fixed price up front, so what you accept is what you pay.
Is there a lock-in contract?
No. There is no lock-in contract for our regular service. You stay because you are happy with the work, and you can pause or cancel any time with 48 hours notice.
Do you require a deposit?
No deposit required, including for one-off clean-ups. You pay in full once the job is completed, by card (contactless tap, Apple Pay or Google Pay), direct deposit, or automatic billing for regular clients.
Your regular service
Why weekly or fortnightly?
Mowing every week or fortnight keeps cuts inside the one-third rule so the lawn is never scalped, keeps weeds down, and promotes healthy growth by returning nutrients to the soil. Weekly suits fast-growing or showpiece lawns, fortnightly suits most. Either way your garden looks its best all year, instead of every visit becoming a rescue. We do not offer monthly or three-weekly, because the lawn outgrows the maintenance window and every visit turns into a clean-up.
Do you mow year-round, including winter?
Yes. We keep you on a regular schedule all year. Growth slows in the cooler months, but consistent visits keep weeds, leaves and edges under control so your garden always looks tidy.
Can I book a specific time?
Yes. We give you an arrival time within a 15-minute window and will notify you if we are running late or need to rebook.
Will I get a reminder before each visit?
Yes. An automated SMS goes out the night before every scheduled visit, so you always know we are coming the next day. No need to check your calendar or wonder if we are still booked in.
How will I hear from you if something changes?
We contact you directly by call or text. If we need to reschedule, run late, or adjust anything about your visit, you will hear from us in advance. We do not just silently not show up.
Do I need to be home?
No, as long as we have access to the areas we are working on there is no need to wait at home.
Can I cancel or reschedule a job?
Yes, you can cancel or reschedule. We just ask for 48 hours notice.
Does the weather affect my service?
Generally we work through heat, cold and rain, but some jobs cannot be done well in certain conditions, such as spraying weeds in the rain. We will let you know beforehand and reschedule if needed.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes, we bring everything we need. Our kit is battery powered, so we don't even need access to power or water at your property.
Can I pause my service while I am away?
Yes. Just let us know and we can skip or pause your visits while you are away, then pick straight back up when you are home. We only ask for 48 hours notice.
What days do you work?
We do the work Monday to Friday, and you get a set day of the week for your regular visit with an arrival time within a 15-minute window. You can call, message or request a quote any time, 24/7.
Lawn & garden care
Do you do gardening as well as lawn mowing?
Yes. As well as mowing we handle hedging, weeding, pruning, mulching and general garden tidy-ups, all on the same reliable fortnightly visit.
Why is regular maintenance important?
Consistent mowing encourages root development and healthy growth, keeps weeds and pests down, and prevents thatch build-up. A garden maintained regularly always looks its best and never gets out of control.
What happens to the grass clippings?
Our mowers use a mulching plug that recycles fine clippings back into the lawn, returning moisture and nutrients. You won't even notice them. Clipping removal is available on request.
Do you take away green waste?
Yes. We use your green bin on-site first, then take away any excess green waste. This is included in your quote unless agreed otherwise.
Do you tidy up afterwards?
Always. We pride ourselves on leaving your yard looking immaculate and remove all excess green waste.
Why battery-powered equipment?
Our all-battery kit is quiet enough for an early start in residential streets, produces no petrol fumes, and gives a clean, precise finish. Better for your garden, and better for your neighbours.
How often should I mow my lawn?
Through Adelaide's spring and autumn growing seasons lawn grass can double in height in about two weeks, so a weekly or fortnightly cut keeps it healthy and never scalped. Weekly suits fast-growing or showpiece lawns, fortnightly suits most. That is exactly why our ongoing service is weekly or fortnightly, so your lawn is never left long enough to stress.
How short should my lawn be cut?
It depends on your grass type. Couch likes a lower cut while buffalo and kikuyu are kept a little longer, and the rule for every lawn is to never remove more than a third of the leaf in one cut. We set the right height for your lawn so it stays healthy rather than scalped, and we lift the height a little over summer to shade the soil and hold moisture.
Should the lawn be cut shorter in summer?
No. In an Adelaide summer it is better to leave the lawn a touch longer, not shorter. A slightly longer leaf shades the soil, holds moisture and helps the lawn cope with the heat, while cutting it too short invites stress and weeds. We adjust your cutting height with the seasons.
How often should I water my lawn in Adelaide?
Established lawns do best with a deep soak about once a week in the warmer months rather than a light sprinkle every day, which encourages deep roots that handle heat. Newer lawns and thirsty cool-season grasses need more. Watering between visits is up to you, but we are happy to advise on what your lawn needs.
What are the watering restrictions in Adelaide?
Under current SA Water rules across Greater Adelaide, fixed sprinklers and irrigation systems can only be used before 10am and after 5pm, with a short window between 1pm and 2pm allowed on days forecast above 30 degrees. A hand-held hose with a trigger nozzle, a watering can or bucket, and drip irrigation can be used any time. Check sawater.com.au for the latest rules.
Why does my lawn dry out even when I water it?
Many Adelaide gardens have sandy soil that turns water repellent, so water runs off or sinks straight past the roots no matter how much you put on. A soil wetting agent usually fixes this by helping the soil hold moisture again, and we can apply one for you as an optional paid add-on on a visit.
How do I get rid of bindii and prickles in my lawn?
Bindii, the prickle weed, germinates over autumn and winter, so the time to treat it is winter, well before the prickly seed pods form in spring. We handle weeding and weed spraying on our visits, and staying on a regular schedule keeps weeds down before they take hold.
What are the most common lawn weeds in Adelaide?
The usual offenders are bindii, clover, creeping oxalis, winter grass and cudweed. Most appear over the cooler months, and the best time to treat broadleaf weeds is late autumn to winter while they are young and before they seed. Regular maintenance and the right cutting height keep a lawn thick enough to crowd most weeds out.
When should I fertilise my lawn in Adelaide?
The main feed for most Adelaide lawns is in spring as growth takes off, with a follow-up in early autumn to recover from summer. It is best not to push heavy fertiliser in the peak of summer heat. We can take care of fertilising for you as an optional paid add-on.
Why does my lawn have brown or dead patches?
Brown patches can be heat and dry soil, dog wee, scalping, or lawn grubs. Lawn grubs and army worm are active in Adelaide from about September to March, often after rain, and a patch that lifts like loose carpet is a giveaway. On a regular visit we notice these problems early and let you know what is going on, and we can treat lawn grubs and army worm for you as an optional paid add-on.
My lawn looks dead. Can it be saved or do I need new turf?
Often what looks dead is just stressed or dormant and comes back with the right care, deep watering and time, so it is worth checking before you pay to re-turf. We are happy to take a look and give you an honest view on whether it can be revived.
When should I trim my hedges and prune in Adelaide?
Most evergreen hedges are best given a light trim a couple of times through the warmer months, while many deciduous trees and shrubs are pruned in late autumn and winter when they are dormant. We handle hedging and pruning on the same visit as your mowing, so it is all looked after together.

NDIS gardening
Do you do NDIS gardening?
Yes. We already look after many NDIS participants on regular fortnightly visits across Adelaide's inner north. No judgement, just friendly and reliable service.
Is lawn mowing and gardening covered by the NDIS?
It can be. Yard and garden maintenance can be funded where it is reasonable and necessary and relates to a participant's disability, and it needs to be included in the plan.
Can I use my NDIS funding to pay for your service?
If garden or yard maintenance is in your plan and you are self-managed or plan-managed, yes. We are not an NDIS registered provider, so the one exception is agency or NDIA-managed plans, which can only use registered providers.
Are you an NDIS registered provider?
No, we are not NDIS registered, but we work with many NDIS participants and look after a good number of them on regular fortnightly visits. Self-managed and plan-managed participants are welcome to use us. Only agency or NDIA-managed plans need a registered provider, so those are the exception.
How do you bill the NDIS, and which support item do you use?
We invoice against NDIS Support Item 01_019_0120_1_1 (House or Yard Maintenance), with a tax invoice for every job, so it is simple for plan managers and self-managed participants to process.
Can you invoice my plan manager?
Yes. We handle plan manager invoicing and email a tax invoice for every job, billed against NDIS Support Item 01_019_0120_1_1 (House or Yard Maintenance).
What do you need from me to invoice the NDIS?
For every NDIS job we just need the participant's full name and NDIS number. If you are plan-managed, your plan manager's details as well so we can send the invoice there.
Can I arrange your service for a family member on the NDIS?
Yes. Family members and carers often arrange our visits for a participant. Let us know how the plan is managed so we can handle the invoicing the right way.
Can the NDIS cover a one-off overgrown clean-up?
It can where it is reasonable and necessary, and an overgrown yard often needs an initial clean-up before regular maintenance. A one-off is quoted and invoiced the same as any clean-up, just billed to your plan, and we are happy to quote the clean-up and the ongoing weekly or fortnightly visits together.
DVA gardening
Do you do DVA garden maintenance?
Yes. We provide garden maintenance for Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) clients across Adelaide's inner north.
Does DVA cover lawn mowing for veterans?
Lawn mowing can be covered for eligible veterans through DVA's Veterans' Home Care program, which is focused on safe access and maintenance rather than cosmetic gardening.
Am I eligible for DVA garden help with a Gold or White Card?
Eligibility is assessed by DVA, and both Gold and White Card holders may qualify where there is an assessed need. The simplest path is a DVA Veterans' Home Care assessment. Once you are approved, we take your DVA reference number and approval details and submit the claim to DVA for you.
Do I have to go through DVA, or can I just pay you directly?
You are welcome to book and pay us privately at our normal fixed price, with no DVA assessment needed. If you would prefer a DVA-funded arrangement, that goes through a Veterans' Home Care assessment first.
One-off clean-ups & overgrown lawn rescues
Can you mow really long or overgrown grass?
Yes. This is one of the jobs we do most. For grass that is too long for a standard mow we cut it back in stages with our battery line trimmer and mower so we do not scalp it, then give it a clean finish. No lawn is too far gone.
My lawn has not been mowed in months. Can you help, and will you judge me?
Absolutely we can help, and there is no judgement at all. Life gets busy. We bring overgrown lawns back to tidy all the time, and most clients then keep that result with a regular weekly or fortnightly visit so it never gets away again.
Why can't you just cut it all the way down in one go?
Cutting a long, overgrown lawn right down in a single pass scalps it and can leave it yellow and stressed. We take it down in stages instead, removing a safe amount each time, so it recovers green and healthy rather than damaged.
Will my lawn look bad or yellow after a big cut-back?
After a heavy first cut an overgrown lawn can look a little rough or patchy for a short while, which is normal. With staged cutting and then regular maintenance it greens back up and fills in over the following weeks.
How long does a clean-up take, and how many visits?
Most one-off clean-ups are sorted in a single visit. A severely overgrown lawn may need a follow-up a few days later to bring it down safely in stages. We tell you what to expect when we quote on-site.
What if there are hidden objects or snakes in the long grass?
We check the area before we start, since long grass can hide rocks, rubbish and the odd surprise. Clearing the overgrowth also removes the cover that pests and snakes like, which is one more reason not to let it get away.
Do I have to sign up to a regular service after a clean-up?
No. A clean-up is a one-off with no obligation. Most clients do choose to keep the result looking great on a regular weekly or fortnightly visit, but that is entirely up to you.
Can you tidy the garden before I move out or sell?
Yes. A one-off clean-up is a popular choice before a sale or when moving out, to get the garden looking presentable. We quote it in person and give you a fixed price.
Access, pets & safety on the day
How do you get into the backyard if the gate is locked?
We just need safe access to the areas we are working on. Leave the gate unlocked on your service day, or let us know a gate code or where to find a key. If we cannot get in we are not able to mow that area, so it helps to sort access before we arrive.
Do I need to clear the yard before you come?
A quick pick-up of toys, hoses, pet mess and loose items helps us give you the best finish and keeps everything safe around the equipment. If the yard needs a bigger clear-out we can talk about that when we quote.
I have a dog. What do you need from me?
Please keep pets inside or secured on your service day so they stay safe and the gate is not left open. Let us know there is a dog so we can take extra care with gates and access.
What if something gets damaged while you are working?
We take care around sprinklers, edges and garden beds, but if something does go wrong we are fully insured with $5 million public liability cover and we will make it right.
Is it safe for my kids and pets to use the lawn after you mow?
Yes. Mowing on its own leaves no chemicals behind, so once we have cleared the clippings the lawn is safe to use straight away.
How long should I keep pets and children off the lawn after weed spraying?
After any weed spray it is best to keep pets and children off the lawn until it has fully dried, and many products recommend staying off for 24 to 48 hours. We always let you know when we have sprayed and when it is safe to go back on.
Do you offer pet and family safe lawn care?
Yes. We are happy to work around pets and kids, choose products carefully, and tell you exactly when an area is safe to use again after any treatment.
